IF YOU WANT TO KNOW MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THIS RUN, PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION. Route notes: http://pastebin.com/Wk0h1xwN (Updated 6/14/14) I've been playing this game for quite some time now, about 9 months. I like the game so much that I decided to speedrun the game! ;3 Some peple may say "You're crazy!" because the game takes so long to beat since it requires a lot of grinding. A first thought that comes to a person's mind about NNK speed run is the thought of leveling up or where to level up. Tokos? Tokotokos? Easy experiece, easy level! Because I've tried facing bosses with minimal grinding and I got ran over, so having levels is a must. That's what I had in mind too. The tokos give a HUGE amount of experience and one Toko=one level. BUT, the tokos run away if not killed soon after the encounter. The mobs in the area are very rough for low levels so I need to be at a good level in order to efficiently kill the Tokos which would require grinding some levels BEFORE I can grind Tokos. I tried that out, and I felt like it took far too long to get up to that point. The spawn rate of the Tokos are also pretty low; I get 2 sometimes and I get none 70% of the time. I didn't want to rely on such a low encounter rate, so I crossed that out. I thought about what is the minimum level I can kill X boss efficiently, and what level I can melt the boss. Another thing that came to my mind is what familiars to use in the run. Dinoceros is a great familiar to have since it demolishes everything in its way, but I'm gonna have to be super extra lucky to catch one without spending all my time on it, and I haven't caught one myself... ever. I don't really like my chances there. I also need to be at a good level in order to efficiently kill the Dinoceros and the other sturdy mobs that reside the area Yea so, I put in a lot of thinking into this especially when I routed this game without any reference, because I didn't bother to look it up since I thought no one would run this game (lol) but someone actually did, so that's pretty cool. Unfortunately I was 60% done of my routing when I saw the person's run ): So it's finally here! I was going to upload a previous run loong ago but my capture device really sucked, so after a few distorted and laggy recordings, I finally decided to get a new recording device and the recording turned out very well. I apologize for the OK quality. I would have uploaded the run in 1080p but my upload is 0.5mbps and would have taken me months to upload. I also have 20gb bandwidth/month. Good internet doesn't exist where I live ): Hopefully the quality is good enough! ABOUT THE RUN Can shave off 20-25 minutes off this run, but very solid run overall nevertheless. I died once in the 3rd room of Mummy's tummy because it was a very silly fight, but I probably only lost a minute. I've had a few very very bad fight such as Royal Jelly (only dropping one gold glim after baby shower... dat RNG) King Tom (probably the worst fight in the game) and the final boss (just a very bad and slow fight). Fortunately, I had more good fights than bad fights, and a few near perfect or perfect boss fights such as gladiataur, Rusty's nightmare (I think). I would like to note the first 2 hours of this game is INSANELY GOOD until I died and the royal jelly fight ): This is my new Personal Best, previous PB was 6 hrs 38 mins. The timer starts as soon as I press YES. The timer stops as soon as the final boss is defeated. Real time: 6 hours 31 minutes In Game time: 6 hours 28 minutes I chose to play the game on easy simply because it's faster since I'm trying to beat this game as fast as possible, but I did run the game on normal. Easy is about approximately 40-50 minutes faster. I believe. I will upload notes for people who are interested in picking up the game once I finished them on the Ni No Kuni thread on the SDA forum.
Boss fight with 3 stages 1st. stage is shadar the executor 2nd. stage is eternal knight. It starts at 5:40 3rd. stage is shadar the dark djinn. It starts at 11:12 So far easily the most enjoyable boss fight in the game
